How to Maximise the Performance of Your Cable

The following simple guidelines can be applied to all Black Rhodium cables and will ensure your cable remains in peak condition and delivers the very highest performance.

Always grip the plug when inserting or extracting a cable from your system. Never grip the cable, as removal by this means will almost certainly cause damage.

Twisting Stereo Cables Together

Listening tests have revealed a smoother more natural quality of sound can be achieved by twisting stereo cables together. Try this simple improvement with your other cables, and experience the remarkable benefits. Some Black Rhodium cables are supplied in twisted pairs, held in place by collars about 12 cm from the plug. Should you require the plugs further apart, then remove the collar, but to ensure the very best sound performance keep the wires twisted.

Cable Direction

Your cable will deliver the very best sound quality when the signal flows in the direction of the printing on the cable, starting from the source of the music (CD Player, Tuner or Turntable) via the Amplifier through to the Loudspeakers. It is especially important to ensure that both cables in a stereo pair are aligned in the same direction (as indicated by the printing on the sheath) because reversal of one cable in a stereo pair will degrade the quality of sound significantly more than reversal of both cables.

Burn In

The sound quality of new cables will improve with use. After installation you will notice a steady improvement in the sound quality from your cable after a ‘burn in’ period.

If your cable is fitted with Eichmann Bullet Plugs?

Black Rhodium high performance cables are fitted with Eichmann Bullet Plugs for superior sound quality in all aspects of performance.

Please exercise great care when connecting bullet plugs to your equipment.
When inserting your cable always hold the plug in line with the socket and insert the plug carefully into the socket. Do not apply any sideways force to the plug during insertion as this can damage the plug.

If you experience difficulty inserting or extracting Eichmann Bullet Plugs, gently blow hot air e.g. from a hair dryer onto the plug. Should you need to do this maintain great care and always follow the manufactures instructions and use the appropriate settings.

Under no circumstances should the fixing screw be loosened as this could cause damage to the cable. If you detect a fault with your plug, please return your cable to your supplier, or directly to Black Rhodium.
